The company has released a teaser video of the car on its official social media handles with the tagline “Coming Soon”. Just like Jeep’s other products in India, the Grand Cherokee will also likely be made-in-India. That said, we expect Jeep to import CKD (completely knocked down) kits of the SUV and assemble it here itself, similar to what it does with the Wrangler.

That said, since the Grand Cherokee is already available in foreign markets, we have a fair idea of what the India-spec version of the SUV could be packed with. The powertrains on offer with the Grand Cherokee internationally include a 3.6-liter V6 that puts out 293 hp and 353 Nm or a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 producing 360 horsepower and 529 Nm. There’s also a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol plug-in hybrid rated at 375 hp/637 Nm available with the 4xe variants.
The Grand Cherokee can be had with either a RWD configuration or an all-wheel drive layout, and the SUV is offered with both 5-seat (two-row) and 7-seat (three-row) setups. We expect Jeep to offer the Grand Cherokee in India with either the 2.0-litre turbo petrol or the 3.6-litre V6 engine, with a standard 8-speed automatic transmission.
Jeep Meridian Review: Off-road champion yet luxurious!
The SUV will be loaded up to the gills with features and safety tech, including ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) functions. That said, the Grand Cherokee will go on to become the flagship Jeep offering in India upon arrival next month.
