AHMEDABAD: Smoking extracts a high cost. In Sanjay Prajapati‘s case, the exact amount was Rs 6 lakh. The 36-year-old had stopped for a smoke in Nirnaynagar when two men on a motorcycle snatched his bag containing imitation jewellery worth lakhs.
The resident of Koth ni Pol in Raipur filed a complaint with Wadaj police.
He told the police, “I work as a salesman at a shop selling imitation jewellery in Manek Chowk. On Wednesday morning, my colleague Anil Prajapati and I left to sell jewellery in Nirnaynagar and Chandlodia areas. Around 11am, we stopped at a paan shop in Nirnaynagar. I kept a bag on the footrest of my scooter and held the other in my hand.
“While I was smoking a cigarette, two motorcycle-borne men, one wearing a helmet and another a mask, swooped in and grabbed the bag I had kept on the footrest.”
Before Sanjay could grasp what was happening, the two fled away.
He then approached Wadaj police and filed a complaint of theft and abetment against the two unknown men. Wadaj police started collecting CCTV footage of the incident to identify the accused person.
