Ashwina Purnima 2022: Ashwina Purnima is also known as Sharad Purnima. People observe Shri Satyanarayan Vrat on this day and this vrat holds a great religious significance among Hindus. People worship Lord Vishnu in the form of Shri Satyanarayan and organise satyanarayan puja. Satyanarayan Vrat is observed only on the full moon day (Purnima Tithi) as Purnima is the favourite day of Shri Satyanarayan. As per Drik Panchang this month Satyanarayan Vrat will be performed on Purnima Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashwina i.e., today, October 9, 2022.

Every Purnima holds its own religious and spiritual significance, but Ashwina Purnima is special among all. It is believed that on this day, Moon comes closer to the Earth and bestows the devotees with its divine rays.

Ashwina Purnima 2022: Puja Vidhi
1. Purnima fast is considered to be the most auspicious. The devotees who keep fast on Purnima, must wake up early and take a holy bath.
2. Take a wooden chowki and place Satyanarayan idol, decorate it with banana leaves, offer flowers/vermillion, kumkum and haldi tilak, keep a kalash full of water and Light a diya with desi ghee.
3. Satyanarayan pooja can be performed anytime.
4. Devotees must prepare prasadam made up of roasted wheat flour, white sugar powder(use boora), banana pieces and put Tulsi Patra in this mixture.
5. Prepare Panchamrit which is the mixture of five things (Milk, Curd, Honey, Sugar and Ghee) and put Tulsi Patra in the Panchamrit and offer to Lord Satyanarayan.
6. The devotees who wants to please Lord Satyanarayan must offer Tulsi Patra and it is believed that without Tulsi Patra pooja is considered to be incomplete.
7. During the Satyanarayan Pooja, Katha is narrated to all, who are present in pooja.
8. After completing the Satyanarayan katha, aarti is recited ” Jai Laxmi Ramna” and “Jai Jagdish Hare”.
9. Devotees must offer water (Arghya) to Moon to honour the deity.
10. The devotees can break their fast by having satvik meal after offering water to moon.
11. People must avoid onion and garlic.
12. Devotees should recite Vishnu Sahasranaam on this auspicious day.
