DEHRADUN: The families of three persons are waiting anxiously for any update regarding their loved ones who got trapped in the deadly avalanche that hit Uttarkashi on October 4.
The efforts by rescue teams to bring back the one remaining body, which is yet to be identified, from the advanced base camp to Uttarkashi failed for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday, while the search for the remaining two is on.
“The search and rescue operations, which remained stopped in the past 48 hours due to heavy snowfall and inclement weather in the higher reaches, resumed once again on Thursday,” an official said.
Meanwhile, the body of one trainee, lying at the disaster site for the past few days and could not be brought down due to bad weather, was being brought to camp 1. The body is likely to reach Uttarkashi by Friday, according to the information provided by the NIM.
Till now, search and rescue teams have recovered 27 bodies from the disaster site, out of which 26 were brought to Uttarkashi and handed over to families.
